Born on the South Side of Fort Worth, Texas Brandon Townsend a self-supportive youth, began using his cousin's boom box to hustle N.W.A. and Run DMC mix-tapes to neighborhood drug dealers, classmates, store owners, and gang members i.e. Crips & Bloods. Brandon was nicknamed Rahlo by his customers and soon made a name for himself as a fledging mixtape hustler.
During the mid-90's before anyone knew what the IRAA or what "illegal downloading" was, Rahlo used his South Side, Eastwood, Como, and Stop Six affiliations navigating from hood to hood selling mixtapes. The mixtape trade proved lucrative for Rahlo as he began to incorporate several of his own songs onto his popular mixtapes.
With the respect of the hood, Rahlo was often approached by hustlers offering him extra cash to make deliveries. Rahlo subsequently made an untraditional decision not to sell drugs and continued to hustle everything from Nikes to Louis Vuitton purses. In each bi-weekly mixtape release, Rahlo attracted a lot of attention with his brash lyrics. Rahlo rapped about crooked preachers, selling bootleg CDs, and anything else going on in the hood. In 2002, Rahlo met producer JClay at a part-time job where they created the company Pink Slip Records, while on company time; hence the name "Pink Slip". In the spring of 2003, Rahlo and JClay released the P.V. song for Prairie View A & M University students. The song was a smash hit on campus and lead to the release of Rahlo's debut album "The Sources" based on different sources people use to get music, bootlegs, money, women, etc.
In short, Rahlo is the only bootlegger to release an album. How ironic is that?
